The caller said he was from British Gas, he knew my name and said that he was calling regarding my back boiler/fire. This had been replaced and removed just over 10 years ago.

Probably legitimate although numbers can be spoofed. Wanted to install new meters, probably smart meters. Very pushy in the same way as has happened before to the point where I'd consider it harrassment.

British Gas following up on Engineer Visit (Company) reported by


The call to me was a lady from British Gas following up on an engineer visit we had last week to fix our boiler. She knew the engineers name and advised that his report advised that our boiler was over 10 year old so it was a curtesy call to have someone assess the boiler and leave a no obligation quote for new boiler. We didn't take her up on the offer as we were previously advised that the boiler was in great condition (with the exception of the small leak that happened 10 weeks later, hence the engineer coming out)

03332029470 is British Gas. I had a call earlier this week from this number regarding British Gas Homecare. This was a genuine caller from this number who offered me a quote regarding Homecare. This was followed up by an email from British Gas and also my British Gas account was updated too.

this is not brittish gas as we have had a smart fitted and british gas will know this as they fitted it.plus it came up on my smart phone as potential fraud just wanted to tell people to be careful and not give any personal details to this caller I am glad I checked on here before answering it.

Was a very nice illegitimate company i spoke to. Even though was a thick Indian man accent I could understand with no problems. I only had to pay a small deposit for my new meter which they will deduct from my bill once installation complete. Definitely Good company.

Early morning call before 0900. Hard to understand the caller. Did not introduce himself. Asked if I wanted a smart meter fitted. Not during current Covid-19 situation thank you, while we are largely confined to the house. Not an essential service. My smartphone logged this as a Potential Fraud so I was doubly wary. Last time they wrote to me to book a smart meter appointment so very unsure about this call this time.

British Gas advising the smart meter is due for an upgrade, genuine call. I asked various questions before going ahead with the call and they knew my personal data including when the last meter was installed etc

Operator with thick Indian accent said they wanted to install a gas meter. i asked him how do Iknow you are really from British Gas. operator was taken aback but repeated he was. I asked for the man's name but I couldn't understand what he was saying. he asked me to prove who i was i said that I had already asked him to prve who he was at which point he got aggressive. I told him that I wasn't interested and hung up. If it is truly British Gas I would prefer to change supplier rather than to be talked to like this man did. This nummber has rung once more but I am ignoring it. If they persist it is time to change my gas/electric company anyway.
