Asian woman who knew my name. Said she was from British Gas. I told her we have been receiving scam calls and British Gas should contact their customers by letter. She thanked me, used my name again (which I had NOT confirmed!) and ended the call.

Claiming to be British gas (Telemarketer) reported by Miss S
Calling about new smart metre as part of the new upgrade. She used my correct name and I am a British gas customer who uses a meter but something didn't sit right. Very busy noisy background and she had a very thick Indian accent. I've seen to many scam videos on Tik Tok not to be cautious so I said no I don't need it and hung up.

Call 2 or 3 times a week, claiming to be British Gas wanting to fit a smart meter. British gas tell me it's not them, and advise to ignore it.

I answered and heard a click, then someone answered introducing themselves as calling from British Gas - noisy background, probably in call centre. Asked me if they were speaking to Mrs 'wrong name' and I hung up. Not a BG customer.

Introduced herself as Jamil and didn’t call me by name but wanted to make an appointment to have a smart meter fitted which I said I didn’t want. Definitely a call centre as there was noise in the background but not sure if it was a scam so said “no thank you” and hung up.

A silent call. I notice most people on here were told it was about a smart meter. That's not the number for British Gas smart meters. I got a letter from British Gas about smart meters months ago. The number they gave to ring if you want a smart meter is 0330 332 2243.

Brish Gas smart meter scam call (Scam call) reported by Bruce
A man in a broken eastern accent asked for me by name. Said he was a Mr Graig from the British Gas smart meter team. I hung up. British Gas know that I have no wish for a smart meter and the eastern accent also put me on my guard as a lot of scam calls come from that area of the world.
