Called at 7.30 this morning. My parents had a similar all this week. It's ridiculous. I never answered but got the number through 1471. If I had answered oh they would have heard how angry I was!

Mr (Scam call) reported by Ross
Called at 7.20am this morning and hung up when I answered and asked who was calling. This number has called several times before this month and it's the Microsoft scam whereby an asian/arab sounding "gentleman" explains that he is calling from Microsoft to help you with you pc that has been hacked. Everything he says is lies of course because he wishes to gain access to you pc and install trojans and steal from you.

Wants to fix my computer (Nuisance call) reported by Asian male.
Claims to be from Microsoft. Very offensive when I spoke to him; he said he was doing me a favour in getting me up from the sofa to answer the telephone. I am disabled...

Introduced herself as Microsoft personnel and asked me to turn my computer on so that she can "fix" my problems (which I don't have). With strong South Asian accent, she was very rude!

Scam call reported by Chubbs
THis is the same old 'errors on computer' scam to gain access. However, what is different is that they are now calling early morning (7:09 in my case) when you think it must be some form of emergency so get up and answer, only to be hit with a foul mouthed diatribe if you express any form of annoyance. A 90 year old sea dog who has visited all the roughest places in the world would have blushed at some of the language this call subjected me to. And this is the second time this week. And there is nothing we can do to stop this? TPS does nothing.

This number also called early this morning - we never answer numbers we don't recognise but for the phone to ring at this hour of the morning is disconcerting when you have elderly relatives, you suspect the worse when you hear that ring. As others have said if they know the offending telephone numbers why can't they be banned?

Scam from rude idiot (Nuisance call) reported by ted
Asian man 8.50 - usual microsoft scam. Got angry when I told him it was a scam and started to insult. I asked him did he believe in karma? He actually said yes...total idiot. He got furious after a while and tried to ring back twice after I put the phone down on him. I was hoping he would leave a message on answer machine to record his voice. I imagine him to be a little man - in a smelly office - above a burger shop. He rings people in his dirty pj's while picking fleas from his crotch.

Scam call reported by Denise
I've had numerous calls from this number and they usually put the phone down when I act a bit thick or pretend that I'm not very good at computers. However, today I initially got a call from a female and when I asked for the number to call back she became very abusive, swearing etc. After I put the phone down I then had 3 calls from a male at the same number. I won't repeat what he said but basically crude and sexually explicit. Surely there must be some way to disconnect this number by the providers?

Just had these i*iots call me again today, they have called before and again just the beginning of this week. I usually waste as much of their time as possible, pretending that my computer is switched off and then waiting for it to boot and so on, then they ask what I can see on the screen and I tell them naked ladies, ha, ha, then they hang up!!!
But today, an abusive male phoned me back and was very rude, he suggested that the naked ladies were my relations, but I said they were his!!
He told me to stop asking questions, 'I am asking all the questions, just listen' he said, told him to F@$% Off and I hang up.
Couldn't believe he then tried to ring me back!!!!!
This really has to be stopped, how can these foreign people be allowed to set up these scam calls, come on BT, have some control over your telephone lines!!!!!

Unwanted phone call (Unsolicited call) reported by Mark
I have had a few of these recently from different numbers. I find telling them you work for Microsoft in their fraud department and would like details from them, concerning their Microsoft accreditation reference, is a very quick way to end the calls

SCAM (Scam call) reported by Smudger
We keep getting called by this scam call centre at the moment. In the past week we've had 5 calls from what I reckon is the same call centre. Looks like someone has put some effort into setting it up. I reckon it won't last much longer. I work in IT - a few comments here - London numbers are "020". That's the London code. 020 - 3xxx xxxxx numbers are "virtual" numbers that use the London code, but can be bought by anyone to make it look like they are in London. That's what these guys have done. They were using a number group last week that made it look like they were in Morocco, so they can basically spoof certain groups of numbers. As many people have said. It's NOT MICROSOFT. Don't listen to them - it's all lies. No matter what they say, they know nothing at all about your PC. You don't have anything wrong at all. The purpose of the scam is to get you to access a remote sharing site so that they can get remote control of your PC and copy passwords and any other information from it. In order to do this, they have to take you through a process of getting you to go to a web site, authorise some software to install and give them a code. I followed the process on my Android tablet once. Obviously, the PC remote control software doesn't work on Android, so it was interesting to see how the scam worked. Don't try this at home... :) So - I know it can be upsetting, but keep it in perspective - they know little or nothing about you, except your phone number and WHAT YOU TELL THEM. They CANNOT see or access your PC, laptop, tablet or anything else UNLESS YOU LET THEM. They want to steal your money. My advice is - speak to everyone in your house, including your children and explain what to look out for. Tell them to just hang up. Don't listen to what you are being told, it's rubbish. The very first time they called us (about a year ago), they asked to speak to my son (who is not even a teenager) and my wife gave him the phone.

Agree with all your comment, but the call I had today became very offensive loud swearing, threatening to rape my mother , sister etc. These people are not just a nuisance they are also very sick. Could of been very upsetting to many people. There does need to be some action by BT and the Government to stop them.

Indian scam centre (Scam call) reported by Holte End
Caller said they were from Microsoft and when I challenged her she gave me here name, Lisa Martinez, and a Microsoft number in Reading, 0118 328 3315. It was clearly a scam but I stayed with it for a while to see how they operate. She wanted me to click the Start and R buttons, this gives you a Run command box. She then wanted me to run the Event viewer, eventvwr. I stopped the call at that point as it brings up the Event window. These scammers are getting cleverer day by day, but Microsoft would never, ever, call you asking to run something on your PC. Beware such calls.

Mr (Nuisance call) reported by zapsincl
Asian woman phoned saying she was from Microsoft and that my computer was putting out errors. I went along with her for a few minutes then explained to her that I had been in the IT business since 1977 and that there was nothing she could tell me about my computer. She hung up. I get the same call regularly and if I'm in the mood I waste their time for a few minutes then hang up. Usually though I just tell them to f*** off.

Scam call reported by AmyJ
Same as everyone else. I had a man call me claiming to be a 'Microsoft Genius' to which he then started telling me my computer was being hacked & was at threat & he needed to gain access to my computer. I started to question his claims with when & where did they try hacking me & he just kept telling me he needs to gain access to my computer in order to show me, when I then requested he tell me he then got very angry with me to which after 5 minutes of nagging I told him not to call me back as I know he's not from Microsoft & not to call me back. He then rang me back almost instantly & was very angry this time & then started claiming my name was being used for gambling etc & they were working with the police on it all. I then told him I knew he was full of lies & not to call me again & he then told me that Microsoft would be blocking my computer use? LOL! They ring me quite often & what they are trying to do is gain access to your computer & you should NOT let them, they are the hackers. Please don't give into these people.

We have had several calls which just went 'dead' when we picked up - when I dialled 1471, got this number. A real nuisance!
Teresa
Hi every one, I had a call from this number yesterday, they told me they were from microsoft and they had noticed that my pc was running slow and playing up and that they could fix the problem, when i told them that my son sorts out my pc for me the foreign man became very angry told me to listen so i just hung up.
This morning I received another call from same number but a woman this time and as sooon as i told her some one called yesterday she hung up.
What worries me a bit is that my pc has been running slow a bit problems with google crone. Are they doing this?
Dave
It is a scam. They want you to look at an error log on your computer, & when you do, try to convince you of all the harmful things & want you to download their software. Which they charge a lot for & does nothing to your benefit. Do not fall for it. I receive the call at least once a week. As a IT manager, it is a regular enquiry from staff where I work. I tell them the same. They just called me, I told the caller I knew it was a scam & kept quiet after that, let the line go dead for them to hang up, waste their money.
