AFTER CALL I DID 1471 IT GAVE 0845 602 1111, BUT MESSAGE SAID IT WS BT MESSAGE ASKING ME TO CALL BACK 07481 3..... BUT MESSAGE CURTAILED! I BELIEVE ITS A SCAMMER - CERTAINLY A NUISANCE AND DISCONCERTING AT 2349! I'D SUGGEST CAUTION.

How can I stop BT Text calls? You will receive text calls if you’ve been sent a text message and don't have a text enabled phone. An electronic voice will read the message out. You can stop them or set curfews by calling 0800 587 5252 from the landline you're receiving them on.

Have had calls from this number all evening. On the last one I picked up the phone (landline) on 4th ring and there is nobody there. Very very annoying as the last call was at 22.30. I would block it if I could but don't have that facility on my landline.

The service is ok. the fact that it when I rang the number back it turned out to be a message from a betting company offering me free bets was not. This undermines the whole point of the BT SMS service. I am going to switch it off as per the advice given above. If someone wants to text my landline, too bad. I can do without hearing from people who don't text my mobile number but choose to text a landline. What's that about? Why don't they send a message by fax, or carrier pigeon?

This number is NOT a scam. It is an automated SMS (text) message from someone who has sent a text message to your landline. It could be from anyone who has your number. The service converts the text message to a female voice which speaks the message to you. You can call the same number back and get the message, just like an answerphone. You are told the mobile number which sent the text and when it was sent. If you do not answer it and retrieve the message it will keep trying. Obviously there is no control over when BT send the message on to you, mine was at 7.30a am, but other posters have mentioned a number to call to set a curfew.

Yes is indeed the BT SMS service. Called the number back and service said have no messages. Perhaps it was one (several!) of these cold calls that send fake numbers to your caller ID phone.

This SMS service rang at 8am on a Saturday, when I normally like to lie in. It rang every ten minutes until I responded. It turned out to be BET365 sending me a text to say I had a free bet at Royal Ascot. So the SMS service is legitimate, but the message is a nuisance call.

This is a legitimate BT service, it's automated to read aloud text messages sent to your land-line number. You can control this by calling freephone 0800 587 5252 (yes, it's free). For those who say "I'm not on BT" you're missing the point, you don't have to be a BT customer, it's a free service. Just call freephone 0800 587 5252 (yes, for free! ) then listen to the options. Simples!

This number has phoned 4 times within 20 minutes with no one on the other end. Finally I got the operator saying press one to hear message, the message was from 00000 telling me the message could not be delivered please call the original caller on. I never waited to hear the number I hung up.

got called at least three times by this number. It went to my desk at work - around 10:15pm, 10:30pm and 10:50pm. On my phone it shows as anonymous - but i logged into work to see that call was a forwarded number, showing this number. I didnt have time to pick up/answer the phone before it rung off, but, combined with our silly work only showing as 'anonymous' - I dont know who this is. Someone mentioned virgin as a potential caller - could be (am a virgin customer). Or it could be another marketeer. will attempt to update if i can catch the call.

BT SMS to Voice

Finally managed to answer the phone. Was experimenting with a text and this is what was triggering the stupid and annoying service. Question is *why*. I sent an SMS - I didnt want to send a callback/voice. So not sure how this is being autosetup.

This number called my house phone at 23:00 which I think is absolutely & totally an unacceptable time for any company or establishment to call. Unless of course it was an emergency call back regarding a medical or safeguarding issue. I would be very interested to find out exactly who they are & report them for continuous calls at unacceptable hours during the evenings sometimes up until midnight.
