Missed call from this number. I rang Nationwide fraud protection on another number and they checked - they had not contacted me today and there had been no fraudulent activity on my card. Calls are being spoofed from this number although it is a number that Nationwide use

I received a call this morning from this number but didn’t answer it, I googled the number to find it was from Nationwide Fraud. I called Nationwide directly from the number on the back of my bank card and spoke to an advisor who spoke to the fraud department and was told no one from nationwide called me even though the number is used by nationwide and scammers can copy the number nationwide use to scam customers and I did the right thing by not answering the call and calling them with a number I know to be genuine and reported it.

Had tried to make a purchase from Turkey where I spend a lot of time (Service) reported by


They texted and asked if I had tried a transaction. I texted back yes and they apologized and said please try again. That to me is good customer service. Better safe than sorry. Buying something in dollars from Turkey sounds suspicious, but that's what I was doing. As it happens Capital One declined to permit the purchase too. They didn't contact me though.

I did not give them any details on the initial call. I said I would phone back. I then checked on the Nationwide website under Fraud Prevention and found that 0800 464 3139 was the correct number for Nationwide fraud prevention. They had phoned 3 times that day, trying to find out about unauthorized use of my credit card.

Nationwide fraud team when credit/debit cards have been lost/stolen or cloned. Puts a stop to further transactions, refunds the amount taken and issues a new card. Always answer calls from this number, it will save you a lot of hassle.
