Had a missed call from 08005979843. I heard my phone ring but only about 4 times. Did a Web search for tel and it just came up with several sites like this one saying its a scam. I think if it was a genuine company surely their own website would cone up when searching for their number?

They called trying to force me into taking out insurance on the skyq box but when i pointed out that nobody owns the skyq boxes so its illegal to insure something not owned by me he abruptly hung up! Ive reported it back to sky they said to change my contact ways & remove phone & in 30 days they will give up trying to call me!

Selling additional Sky services, asked if I had MySky app, SkyVIP and asked how many devices were connected to the internet. Also made up a lie that the new Batman movie was on Sky Store for free if you are a SkyVIP customer. Not sure why you would lie about this?? Then tried selling me insurance and when I said no he abruptly hung up. I think it is a scam as something seemed off. I imagine they just want your bank details to set up the ‘insurance’

Details seemed genuine - have just joined Sky Q (long story) - there was nothing to set alarm bells ringing and I was happy with the terms and conditions etc - UNTIL - they asked me to confirm if I had a UK bank or Building Society account - to which I replied - don't you already have this information and the call disconnected :( HMMMMMM I should add - my partner was with these guys through Sky for YEARS with outstanding service

They said it was a welcome call from sky. They didn't get my name right. They asked for my password or mother's maiden name, at that point I thought it was a scam. I can't be sure, so I told them I was happy with my sky package. I can ring sky directly if I need anything.

Nice enough call but asked for enough of my details to be able to fraudulently do things, mothers maiden name, address etc. Disguised as a follow up call but couldn't answer ANY technical questions. Eventually tried to sell me insurance but I refused. Call ended professionally.

This is a legitimate follow up call for new sky customers, after reading reviews on here I started panicking as I’m normally quite good at spotting scams! Sky have confirmed both on their Twitter account numerous times and in an email to me personally that this is the insurance company they use for their Sky protect, it might be an unwanted marketing call for some people but it is a legitimate call. The insurance they offered was actually better than my current mobile phone cover so I have taken it up and received official Sky policy documents the next day! I wish people would stop scaremongering!

Was find with name address postcode as any half decent techy could get that anyway regardless. As soon as you as for a password on an inbound call when they have phoned you on the mobile and asked name address and postcode already. Not scaremongering to be safe. They want to do that then they should have a challenge word themselves so you know they are legit.

Called claiming to offer welcome tips for new Sky Q customers. (Telemarketer) reported by


Caller knew when I had my Sky Q installed; wanted to confirm my address but then asked for my telephone password, which I refused. Stated that we could skip identity and then proceeded to tell me about a device insurance top protect Sky Q, dish etc. But as these are essentially rented from Sky under the Q T&C, I proceeded to tell her I would not buy from any caller where I had not initiated the call due to my not knowing if its genuine. She was very pleasant and ended the call appropriately. So I think this was a genuine sales call, but one I was not prepared to be taken in by.
