Called claiming to be from Nationwide, wishing to speak about "bereavement". Insisted on me answering their security questions, but I have no way of confirming the identity of the caller. THEY CALLED ME, out of the blue so it seems just like any other phishing scam. They also offered a switchboard number where I could confirm their identity, much the same as phishing scammers. Even if the call is genuine, Nationwide is really messed-up by approaching their own customers in this manner. Trying to "educate" customers regarding online security, then encouraging customers to ignore the precautions.

100% agreed.I got the call out of the blue asking to share my mortgage account number and personal details when they keep on reminding everyone not to do it. Total contradiction.

I get a call from this number everyday about 6 times a day. I answered 4 times and no answer then they put the phone down. I have called the number on the back of my card and done a live chat with nationwide and they both said they can’t confirm this is a nationwide number. I saw some comments sayings it’s about ppi or feedback or mortgage which would mean they’d have no reason to contact me

Didn't answer but left a message. I google local branch number and called that number which was an 0345 number and got the person who had left the message. It was regarding a telephone appointment I have next week and I needed to take some ID into branch prior to appointment
