Legitimate number for NATIONWIDE UK (Financial services) reported by


I had called nationwide to report a lost card. I was taken through security fully and cancelled my card successfully as far as I know, although I haven't been able to check this as I don't currently have access to the banking app. During the call, while I was on hold, the call disconnected, for an unknown reason. This 0800 number is the number that called me back and it was the same guy I had just spoken to when I called them minutes before so I feel secure in confirming that it is a genuine Nationwide UK number

This was Nationwide Fraud department double checking a large transfer I was making. Note that it is possible for fraudsters to fake the number from which they are calling so those saying that it is a scam may well have been talking to scammers. I however was definitely talking to the building society.

This is a Nationwide number but is a bit of a joke really because it was from their fraud department. This number doesn't seem to appear anywhere but IT IS NATIONWIDE. The security check they take you through is also a bit of a joke because they were all details that others could know or a burglar could find in my house. How did Nationwide know that i wasn't a burglar who thanks to them could then access my account ? Nationwide should know that phone calls aren't safe and i made this known to them.

Caller claimed to be from Nationwide. However when I said I prefer to do business face to face in a branch they told me that the branch wouldn't be able to help, even though I hadn't confirmed my identity or anything else. Told them I though they were a scam call and hung up. Same number (different caller) called several times over the following week. Told them to stop calling me. I was polite but firm, if this happens again, I'll be less polite as I'm registered with TPS so as not to receive unsolicited calls for a reason. If this really is Nationwide, then they really do need to look at their policies with regard to customer contact.

They just rung me and left a vmail and a number to ring them back Rafael - i dont have an account with Nationwide ! this is all very odd as a lot on this and other forum says its a legit call from Nationwide... how can it be when you dont have an account with them...all very strange this one

This call is Nationwide. I asked and was told the number doesn't belong to them, but if you call their collections number (they called me because I had exceeded my overdraft) they have been trying to call you and it is legit. Not sure why the number seems to not be well known amongst employees. The call is legit, but if you're worried, call back the collections number. Same department.

Just got a call from this number saying that they were calling from Nationwide to discuss my mortgage. They asked for my mortgage account number and personal details. I told them i was surprised that they were asking for such information when banks keep on reminding all the customers not to share any personal details. I turned down the call.

Lady calling from Nationwide wanting to discuss my investment portfolio. I arranged a time for her to call me back then checked with my usual Nationwide adviser that the call was genuine. He has confirmed it is and that she will do a preliminary review before booking a further appointment for me to speak with him. All good! ????

Caller asked if I was another person. The name was of African origins! I replied No and just put the phone down. I bank with Nationwide and they would never call you out of the blue!
