I originally wrore a reply advising caution. Since then, I have checked with Natwest and this is their fraud team (but confusingly not the same numbers that they ask you to call to report fraud). It turns out that they flagged some low value purchases I'd made (at places I've shopped before) as suspicious. One of those purchases hadn't gone through the first time, possibly what set things off. Oddly, they didn't flag up my spending money abroad this weekend, but perhaps the change back to the UK had something to do with it. Regardless, always check on a company's official website to male sure a number is real and secure before you call.

I received a call from this number at 7.30 pm one evening, then at 9.20am the next day. I did not havr time to answer as the phone only rang twice. THIS IS NOT ONE OF NATWEST'S OFFIVIAL FRAUD LINES. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION IT IS ALMOST CERTAINLY FRAUD. If you are unsure, go to Natwest's website, contact them through official listed numbers but NEVER give an unsolicited caller any personal information, no matter how much they know. In the past, when I did actually make a 'suspiciously' large purchase and Natwest cut off my card as a precaution, THEY DID NOT CALL ME. Majes it less likely that this is real.

its natwest fraud team, you can verify this by checking natwest website. automated system knew my name (no one else lives here) and asked to select correct year of birth from 4 options. then asked to type in birth DD/MM. Then listed some recent transactions and asked if i recognised them, after which card was turned back on. At first i was concerned, because one of the successful transactions was from today and wasnt visible on the online statement, so hung up, checked my email and found an outstanding purchase from last week for the same amount that id been waiting to be debited.
