Saying I had to renew my phone contract with them - I'm not on contract, and then I said that he'd broken the data protection act, and he was to remove my number, and I would inform the police, he got angry and said that he would block my number instead in 'five to ten minutes'. They're scammers trying to get account details.

Male said he was calling from O2 to offer me 15% discount, and that he would send me two text messages. I made him hold 'as someone was at the front door' and after a while I came back to the phone and told him I was Scotland Yard and the call had been traced. He then called me a Dirty F**ker and hung up. Nice. Now blocked on my handset.

This number is a call centre for o2. A Indian female on voip offered me an o2 deal. I am with GiffGaff and don't wish to change provider. The number checks out when rung back and on 02's website.

It’s an O2 number but it’s been spoofed. If they had been genuine they wouldn’t have called you as you’re not an O2 customer (even though O2 owns giff gaff)

Said they were from 02 offering a discount. Said they were sending a security code. He talked a lot about how I would get one text warning me not to share my info with other networks that call, and then one with the code he needed. So silly when thinking clearly but I found it confusing and kind of convincing on the phone. The first message is actually warning me not to give the code to anyone, but he keeps talking so quick that you don't read properly and almost believe him. HANG UP AND DONT BE FOOLED!

O2 sent an official message to say that if I have a call regarding a code, it is a scam and that I should never give the code to anyone - this came through after the call (which I ignored, but they repeatedly called back immediately kept calling back after hanging up). I had never requested the code, but based on the texts received, they have tried a few more times.

Hi, I have just had a call from 03448090202. The caller had a strong indian accent, he claimed to be from O2. He told me that as a valued O2 customer I was going to be given a 40% discount off of my next 6 months bills. He wanted me to provide him with a 6 digit code to confirm acceptance (I think). This all sounded fishy so I asked him why I couldn't accept it through the O2 app. He then gave me some more gibberish about 6 digit codes etc and eventually hung up. This was obviously some sort of scam attempt. I have blocked the number and reported it to O2

I’ve just had the same call, 23/03/21 He sounded just like someone from o2 and if it wasn’t for the text message sent previously to the one of code he sent saying this is fraud I would have have him the passcode. I think it all seemed to good to be true and was very sceptical from the beginning, I hung up and he was trying to call me back a further 3 times

Scam call to gain access to my account (Scam call) reported by


I received this call stating from 02 offering 40% off my bill. I just needed to give them the 6 digit code. The code was sent from 02 along with a text warning not to give the code to anyone from 02 (they’ll never ask for the code) if they do it’s a scam. Hung up on the call. They rang me back 3 times after I hung up from the 0344 number then on private called ID. I answered told them I knew it was a scam, they argued with me that they were 02 and they sent me the code, still trying to get the code. I hung up again, they rang me back the next day also. Found some poor woman on Facebook who had given the code and had £8500 taken from her bank as they used this code to disable her phone then access her phone banking. DO NOT GIVE THE CODE

Woman said she was from OMG or something like that and offered a 40% discount but did not go through any security checks. She was very determined to keep me on the phone. She had what sounded like a strong Indian accent but spoke good English. I asked her what she was trying to sell me which she did not understand the first time and I assume someone was coaching her in the background because the phone muted and she then came back saying she was not selling me anything at this point I hung up. I took it as a scam call and blocked the number. I have not received a text message with a 4 digit code as others have mentioned.

This is a fretty sophiticated scam. Recieved a call from this number offering my a 40% discount on an 02 phone contract on the basis of my reliable billing history. When I asked for the name they had on the account they couldn't answer. I recieved an unsolicited onetime account acess code text from 02 which I presume the scammers had requested while was on the phone to them. At the same time I recieved a fraud alert text from O2 asking if someone had called me asking for a code and advising me that they did not work for O2 and were trying to commit a fraud on my account.
