Phone rings, comes up Barclays. Answer phone goes dead. Ring back automated female voice asks for your card number to be entered. I hung up. Spoke over a pint with my best mate and he said it is a scam. Why do I believe him? 1) I have no Barclays products 2) He is a director of Barclay’s Bank!

Received numerous calls when answered it was silent. Hung on a bit longer today and a man started asking me to give details so hung up. Spoke to Barclays who confirmed no record of any contact having been made by them, no notes on system. DO NOT GIVE OUT INFORMATION, call the bank.

Have had 4 calls in 4 days. Day 1 Only got 2 rings on my mobile and no voicemail. I was suspicious but called back and got the "enter you Card number to proceed" I didn't. However the message was an exact copy of Barclaycard message and easily recorded and used by a scammer to mimic Barclaycard. Day 2 Same technique 2 rings. Managed to answer and guy asked for my name, I asked who was calling, He hung up Day 3 Same technique 2 rings. I answered within 2 rings. Guy asked if I could hear him? I said yes and i asked could he hear me. Again he hung up. Day 4 Same call technique 2 rings and hang up. I spoke to Action fraud in UK They were not hopeful as scammers can fake an outgoing call number, to make it appear to be as any genuine telephone number, even my own. I have had another communications with Barclaycard, who stated that they are not allowed to phone an account holder without the express permission from the account holder. This is a Catch 22 situation, because if you get get cut off from someone you are talking to and have gone through security checks with them, they will not call you back, so you have to start a new call with another agent. So scam call it is and will block it on my phone.

Called the number back and immediately wanted my card number (Scam call) reported by


I missed the call while at work and just tried calling it back and got an automated voice asking immediately asking for my card number, upon refusal started asking for post code and stuff instead. If it was a legitimate barclays call they would never ask for such information over the phone.

They called me twice saying there was a problem with my Barclaycard account and they needed me to go through some security questions. I instead hung up and phoned the bank from the number on their website. When I phoned Barclaycard from via that number they said there was no record of them calling me, and nothing wrong with my account. 100% scammers. Don't talk to these people.

Just had a man call me from this number too! Said he was from Barclays and did I receive the letter?! When I said regarding what,he said he couldn’t say until I’d passed security,so I said how ‘bout you pass security,what’s my address?! He garbled a load of crap about needing to confirm my details so I told him jog on!!!SCAM!!!

I received a call from this number this morning saying they were from barclaycard and I needed to go through security questions before we could proceed, I asked what it was concerning and was told they couldn't discuss it until I'd passed security questions,I never give this information over the phone so i politely told them that I would call into a barclays branch to see what the problem was,I was told he'd make a note on my records that I would be attending a barclays branch...Please be aware as the caller was very convincing and you could be easily caught out .

A call from this number claimed to be from Barclays, calling about a problem with a Barclaycard, but refusing to give any details until information such as date of birth was given. A call to the official Braclaycard number revealed that the call hadn't come from them, and that there were no problems on the card.
