Had a call from this number, I too was a little concerned about all the security questions including bank details. All in order though. I rang the main number 0800 731 0469 and chose the change of circumstances option which is where the department is based - Swansea.

I'd phoned them to change banking details for pension payyments as couldn't see how to do it online, 30 minute hold then spoke to a lady who took the info to pass on to appropriate dept and I'd receive a return call within 48hrs ... and then I missed it!

Is authentically the DWP... Would not answer my security questions so amicably end the call, sent a text, so I phoned back the next day on a number taken from a letter, so certainly correct, and they verified the veracity of this call.

This number rung on Sunday. She said her name was amber and wanted information about my 87 yr old nan for pension credit. She had dementia so not a good idea. I put the phone down. A I'm not giving details to anyone over the phone. B my nan is not of sound mind to go through this. C. If ur genuine I want proof first before speaking about these things. D. On a sunday????

I agree!! Many of us have an online account on the Govt Gateway yet there is nOTHING on there to say to expect a call - and the sender number is NOT the usual DWP number. Come on, we need to be constantly vigilant against fraud, particularly the 60+. We are constantly told NOT to give personal details to cold callers!!!!!!!!!!

this is dwp I spoke to them and they wanted to confirm that I had tried to update information, I HAD NOT CALLED THEM, it turns out someone tried to alter bank accounts but dwp knew it couldn't be me because the caller was too young. I then phoned a different number which was on letter from dwp. If you try to call above number a recording says we called you earlier and will call you back if we need to speak to you.
