The company texted me and I called the number. They only asked for single digits from the tel security code so not scammers. They had access to my account and quoted my exact most recent transactions. Genuine HSBC Fraud team. However this number should be printed clearly in HSBC website to demonstrate they are genuine.

I got a call from them querying a legitimate transaction. They are genuine, however they annoyed me greatly by taking an age to load my account and kept me on hold for longer than I liked whilst they looked into it. For a fraud department I would have liked them to have been way quicker.

Fraud Call Us This Number To Seem Legit (Scam call) reported by


I received a message claiming to be from HSBC saying I should call this number (or another one to reverse the charges) and quote the reference CD. Contacted the bank and discovered they never contacted me. Suspect this number is given so they seem legit but the reverse charges number is a scam. Recommend you call the bank direct on the number they provide on their website to avoid problems. Do not use the numbers provided by voicemail etc.

I was buying something expensive online from a foreign country. HSBC thought this was fraud, once I explained it was me, they told me to re-buy the item and it would work no problem :)

Didn't ask me for any PIN numbers, account numbers etc just to confirm parts of address and date of birthright after they gave the other parts. Then listed recent transactions for me to confirm.

HSBC fraud team - genuine call and also text message. I rang back on the number from their website rather than the one stated and it was a genuine call - they transferred me to the fraud team and everything fine. Really on the ball though! I'd opened a new account with a trader online & they said there hadn't been any history of me using that trader so they stopped my card as a precaution. Better safe than sorry
