Revived a call and ignored it checked website and it’s a genuine HMRC number so next time it rang I answered it but the scammers must of cloned the number or something was a recorded message saying I was being prosecuted and if I didn’t act now a warrant would be issued for my arrest! I hung up and not heard from them again

Pressed 1 as requested by robot advising I am involved in a case of tax fraud. When asked for my further personal details (he knew my name) I asked for proof of who he is, asked me to open google, I wanted a brief of why and want the next actions on my behalf would be, and he got very irate and said either open google of give me your details or hang up, in which case he said he will issue a warrant for my arrest, I asked why I gad not received any mail over this and he got more upset demanding I give info or face arrest! I hung up and researched the number, says is HMRC tax credit number 0345 300 3900 United Kingdom, but HMRC have a disclaimer calls could be scams and to call them direct to confirm. His accent was hard to understand so did not catch his name. Call received at 14:50 on Monday 12/6/21

Number coming up on mobile is HMRC Tax credits number but think scammers are behind the call as they ask you to press 1 immediately - I didn't do this because I thought it was suspicious. Hang up the phone and call HMRC directly if you are worried and want to check if this is genuine.

I did press 1 and the Eastern gent wanted my post code, when I wanted proof of who he was, he got very irate threatening me that if I did not give the info or open google for him to prove who he was (but would not disclose the sequence of events I would follow after opening google) he was quite hot under the collar, so I hung up and researched the number! Possible fraud SCAM!

They call you immediately threatening legal action, I laughed when he gave me some ridiculous outstanding balance quote, and he said 'oh yeah funny is it? Well how about i call the police on you? Now I'm the one laughing' and then hung up on me. I wont specify the other obvious scam markers as I dont want to advise them and they clearly pay people to comment positively on this page amongst others. All stress can be avoided by independently contacting HMRC yourself, regardless of the number showing up on your phone.

Ps the guys 'name' who called me was 'Officer Chris', so for the people from the scam company reading this page, you should probably fire him as he is clearly not cut out for a scam that works maybe 2% of the time. This is my first scam shaming offence but Officer Chris, I would recommend you quit before they fire you. Your retaliatory and combative tendencies far outweigh your larger perspective of what you are actually trying to achieve, so I would recommend maybe military service? Anyway, if anyone receives a call on this number, just go to the hmrc website and contact them directly from there and you won't have any problems.

These people are claiming to be from Inland Revenue with the usual “we have a warrant for your arrest” GARBAGE. Don’t fall for it. The IR would NEVER call saying you’re getting arrested unless you pay money straight away. Hang up on them and report the number to the Inland Revenue.
