Spoke to Baarclays and was advised that this is one of their numbers, however it is also possible that someone has 'spoofed' it so not to reveal any personal information.

I received a call from this number claiming they were from Barclays and it was a call to let you know local branches have been closed and if I wanted anything. Normally, when I receive things from Barclays it says 'Barclays'. Even though no information was disclosed I still found this unnerving as it's not usual practice and therefore put me on edge. Don't give out ANY details over the phone!

Same happened to me just now. Very strange. A lady with a smiling voice and an accent said she is from Barclays and wanted to check I am OK. She knew my first name and obviously my mobile tel number. I said to her I am fine. She said good good and didn't ask for anything else. This is very suspicious. She didn't have a business tone but a very relaxed tone like she was a friend calling me to check about my welfare. I don't buy it. Don't disclose anything over the phone.

Same here received a call asking fir my address and letter from my password which i gave. Did i need anything from my account said no. Only realised after that i shoukd of asked them what details they had not confirming who i was. My bank said it is a scam

Received an unwanted call on my mobile and did not answer as I did not recognise this number. Checked with Barclays Bank to confirm that number was genuine and, following this confirmation, rang the number back only to receive a prerecorded message about Barclays product development. Recommend caution if answering this number as other people have reported potential scams.

Person sounded like a woman, looking for housing/ welfare advice, when i tried to get details, s/he pushed in another direction, i asked whether she realised this was NI, s/he said housing in NI was the same as the rest of the UK- I explained it was not, s/he pushed towards the data protection act, i looked up the information commissioner's office, gave her a phone number, s/he pushed in another direction looking for the DWP Data Protection Officer, s/he told me how s/he would google this information; i couldn't get the information s/he wanted, so s/he put the phone down. My suspicion is that s/he was playing for time, fishing for something, hope s/he didn't get it. Tried returning the number, but it is not active, very odd and suspicious behaviour.
