AUDIO TEXT SERVICE (Robocall) reported by Ed
Text message sent to my housephone. The system translated it to audio. Friend sent text to my housephone by mistake. Problem was the robo voice didn't tell me the sender phone number. I didn't press buttons on my phone when told. Just kept listening. Message was read out and figured who it was from. Not first time this has happened. Lucky he didn't include emojis in the text. That would have caused the message to fail. Incidentally, a google search of this number will turn up the owner of this number. Has has useful info on the web page.

Audio text to house phone (Service) reported by Ali
Appointment reminder text came into my house phone this morning. The system translated it to audio and delivered it via this number. Didn't press buttons on phone when requested. Wouldn't do that. The message was read out my way. I was aware of the appointment. They have my house phone number as the contact. Will change to my mobile number when I see them.

Audio text (Service) reported by George
Text message sent to house phone. Has happened before when I provide home number instead of mobile number as a contact. These calls can sound suspect but I found out you don't need to press any key on your phone to pick up the message. Just hang on and listen and the computer relaying the audio translation will then just read it out As no buttons on the phone need to be pressed I would rate this as totally safe. I wouldn't like to risk pressing a button on my phone!! A daft risk to take.

Automated Robot saying "This is not an Ambulance etc call. (Robocall) reported by Alan
The problem is not the 0333 number (directly that is), these are classed as normal landlines (as your saying) and come off of your minutes allowance, the 'Scam' is done by your pressing a number on your phone, e.g. we have had multiple calls from this number today, and they instruct you to press a specific number, for us it was "Press 1 to hear the message" By pressing any number they say, could divert your call to an 09** premium number that could cost say £50 a minute, OK normal 09** numbers may be a £1 a minute, that's bad enough, but they divert you to a mega premium line, costing seriously higher than the standard ones, this is the very reason you should NEVER, press a button when instructed, not unless you know it is a legit call that you were expecting, otherwise search the number here to check if anyone knows the number, and if it sounds like it's legit, get their number out of the phonebook and ring them back, but do not use any number they give you because if it is a scam, the number will be from another scam phone, so after seeing so many reviews I've blocked the number, more so as it has rang around a dozen times in the last hour.

This is an audio text service number. You don't need to press any button on your - just listen.
Gatsby
This is one of those audio text translation service numbers that calls when someone sends a text to a non-text enabled landline. You don't need to press any button on your phone to pick up your message. Just listen and do nothing but listen. The computer will read out the message when it gets to the end of its spiel.
Don't believe it
Well, I got the call on my MOBILE- so if someone texted me on my mobile number surely I wouldn't need a translation into voice. I'm not blind either. Smells like a Scam to me.

No message (Robocall) reported by JG
I understand this is a text call BUT it came through just before 7am and woke us up. All it said was to press 1 to listen to message, 2 to save 3 to delete but pressing 1 just started the options all over again. I have an elderly mother who has tried to text my landline before so it was stressful. I was worried it was her, but also didn’t want to wake her up if it wasn’t! Can’t understand if it’s legitimate, that I couldn’t actually get to hear a message ????

It is one of the text to speech to landline translation and relay service numbers. Calls when someone sends a text to a landline and is one of about 1/2 dozen or so of the services that provide this free to answer translation and relay service. This one is operated by a Leeds based company - AQL Text to Speech. Their web site provides details how to check and retrieve your message. One problem is it will keep on trying to deliver the message from 7am to 11pm and you can't change this time.

SMS delivery service (Robocall) reported by Dave S.
Someone will have sent a text message to your landline which is converted by this service into speech. The sender may, of course, be a marketing company, but it is also possible to be a legitimate message from someone you may know. Either way, it's neither dangerous or costly to press 1 and listen to the message.

Automated text delivery service (Service) reported by Foster Maclean
Service used by intermediary to deliver a text from a mobile to a landline number. This is not a scam but the sender may have chosen the landline by mistake rather than a mobile number.

i hung up immediately (Robocall) reported by Bluesy
came home from work did 1471 to see who had called....this number apparently called literally 10 min before i got through my door....as i was googling the number and reading comments phone rang again...i answered as i was expecting a call from my mum...only to hear this robotic voice so i hung up immediately...at a loss as to how they have my number in the first place as only my mum has this number.... reading the commments here i can confirm that 1- i have no iceland or any other supermarket home delivery due 2 - i have no parcels from hermes/ebay/amazon/parcel force etc due (very strange tho that a hermes delivery note has been left in our communal mail box but with no name or flat number?) 3 - my mother has not left me a voice to txt msg and wouldnt even know how to do it and as said already she is the only one who has my home number Scammers!! try harder!!

Premium number scam (Robocall) reported by stevefj
This is a premium rate number so will cost plenty if you use any of the options or phone it. States you have a text and to press 1, 2 or 3 to listen, repeat or delete...that's when they start racking up the money. How this is allowed by OFCOM or any telecom providers I have no idea - must be all in on it one way or another

Gatsby
My understanding is that 0333 numbers are standard rate calls. Not rip off premium rate. Not expensive business rate. This is one of the audio text to landline relay service numbers that calls when someone texts a landline. All these service numbers are a right pain. Best ensure you only give your mobile number when ordering things or making appointments. This number is owned and operated by AQL Text to Speech - a Leeds based techy company. Check the web page for more details of this service including how to retrieve your message and check if the call is genuine.
