Unlike the posts above, I've have not interacted with gumtree. The young lady was not clear and when I told her I couldn't hear her in a lowered voice, I was told to "please speak louder". I said I couldn't and that I am in my office and she said "Doesn't matter, please speak louder" at which I hung up the phone. Prank/Nuisance call.

As soon as you post anything in Gumtree, these hawks take your details and phone you from London or Unknown numbers with accident happened in past. They openly say they took your details from Gumtree and have no fear or shame to talk apart from scamming you. Just tell them you will report it to Police if you get call one more time from these series of numbers which had been noted down, they will keep out.

So i got called up again by these jokers about a car accident, so I had a bit of a joke so i said i was run over by a sherman tank about two years ago in 1945. The first bloke said owch and told me he will pass it on to his manager, probably sat next to him. I then repeated my story and the first thing he said in broken english was " your are kid?" And i said yes, nice ine and then he told me to f off. Nice one mate. Btw tey get the numbers off gumtree, as a few seconds before i had uploaded an add.

A man with an Indian/ Pakistani accent named "Sam" for a "solicitor's company called to say I'd been involved in an accident in the last 2 years. As I haven't had an accident in over 50 years I told him he'd been misinformed and not to bother calling again.

I was called today from 02080280069 by someone with an Indian accent. He asked if I was Mr. P. That is not my name, it is my middle name. He claimed to calling about an accident that I had had. I had not been involved in any accident. When I asked if this accident was the one that I was killed in, he got extremely offensive. At which point I asked him not to phone again as he was fooling no-one. He called me a m*ther***ker and said that he would get people to call me constantly. At that point I hung up the call. These people need to be stopped.

Called saying i'd been involved in an accident in the last two years, said they'd got my number through the MIB, this was within 10 minutes of posting an advert on Gumtree, I have reported this to the MIB (01908 830 001), i would advise others to too.

Apparently someone ran into my car last year and they were phoning from an insurance company. Never mind the fact that I dont own a car! And then they said I was the passenger of the car that was hit not the driver! I've not been in a car accident since I was a youngster so cannot have been me! I'm almost 100% sure they obtained my phone number from Gumtree! What a sad bunch of people. Do they actually make money this way?
