No accident happened! (Scam call) reported by


My son was parked up when a cyclist almost ran into him and fell off. Cyclist then filed a complaint saying my son was in the wrong. There wasn't even a claim made, just statements taken (something insurance companies do with cyclists and pedestrians, apparently). We then get a call from this number to say the accident my son had was not his fault and he has compensation waiting for him. There wasn't even any physical contact with bike/car. I have asked them repeatedly to remove our information from their records (citing GDPR and our right to have it removed). They havent and still keep ringing! Grrrrrrrr

I have received numerous calls from this and similar numbers, when in fact I know that accident I had was my fault as I was carelessly changing the lane and was hit in the back. They did not tell me the name of their company, but had all details from the accident, passed me to the personal injury claim department and were listening to the call on the background as when I was asked for third party reg plate, I did not know it and they guy put call handler on hold while giving me ref plate number and telling me to tell them that I have suffered with neck and back pain since. Personal injury department did not know who passed me to them and asked why it took me so long to claim compensation, eventually I apologised for the call and stepped back.

Seems to be some call center, I can see more similar numbers (all the same range - 016181881xx, just last 2 or 3 digits different) reported here already mostly with car accident chasers. No idea who is behind it, they left no message, no VM. I really don't answer unknown numbers, tried to dig some info about this number first on internet, but no luck so far. People did someone answer it? I have been using the ShouldIAnswer mobile application from these pages, works fine, can stop such calls and also a range of numbers (very useful for call centres). No problems.
