Missed the call, but got a text asking me to ring them back about an account I had applied for. I did, and they just asked a few questions to verify it was me so the application could go ahead. I'm not saying they don't ring people flogging financial services, they may well do, but this was genuine.

I have never answered. I have been phoned on this number many times. others suggested it is Halifax Bank. if it is I have had no letters, texts or emails or messages on my actual Halifax internet banking. therefore this must be cold calling wanting to sell me something. update 11th September 2017 I have just unthinkingly answered and it was indeed from Halifax financial services. A very lovely Scottish girl. nevertheless, nice or not, I said I knew what she was offering and I did not want to talk finance at the moment. I did take her number with a view to thinking about it.

Genuine number from Halifax, I called Halifax separately off another phone on a verified number and they confirmed this is one of their numbers they use to contact customers. In my case it was to verify I was setting up a new bank account.

SCAM! (Scam call) reported by


SCAM! careful! they called me saying a new service (free of charge) was available at my bank. They would have to run with me some account details and security questions to activate this. I challenged that because they called me, so they should know who I was. Later I have confirmed with my local branch and with the central office contact line and no one recognised the number nor the guy calling me! I was warned by the bank not to disclose any details over the phone. It is a SCAM!
