It's basically a website that forces you into full screen mode and displays an image of a microsoft website with the error message in the middle and a photoshopped phone number you 'need' to call. If you call, they will say it's £200 to sort it out but all you need to do is hold down the escape key, right click on the window down at the bottom and finally select 'close window' It will give you a warning or something saying stay or leave. Just click leave. I hope you find this helpful :)

Can they still get informations of my laptop or other devices I am using for internet when I finished talk with them? I have a talk with the guy but I didn't pay but I am afraid he could get acces to my private stuff, bank account and stuff like that

on laptop clicked on website and had alert off microsoft it filled the screen and said to protect microsoft your screen has been frozen. then a pop up appeared say your bank,email,passwords are being taken and to call this number urgently 0800 090 3853 . they tried to tell me to press certain buttons but i could not understand them and told them i would ask my friend to look at the laptop because he fixes laptops . to protect microsoft your screen has been frozen . contact this number 0800 090 3853

I took this a step further unfortunately and gave them remote access to PC before I realized I was being conned and then hung up and disconnected router. Am I still at risk in your view? What would you advise? I am concerned they got enough information before I realized.

This number came up as part of a serious warning proportedly from Microsoft .. the call to them was very convincing.. I was pased thru to Network Security expert in the states who told me it would cost $1300 to fix .. the whole thing was very convincing .. I pulled out at the last moment .. I'm tech savvy and a sceptic so something smelled wrong .. but I can see these guys convincing many people .. STAY AWAY

malware while browsing prompts a message to come up telling you you have critical malware and a number to call immediately. screen can only be closed by going to task manager. At the call center work a motley crew of scammers pretending to be Microsoft after your credit details. Dangerous, stay away and don't be intimidated by fake virus alerts while browsing.
