Microsoft (Scam call) reported by


Mon15Jan18. Scam pretending to be Microsoft Support. Warning flashed up on screen and recorded voice warned that my computer is infected with a virus or spyware and would steal my bank/card details, etc. Said I should call 0800 090 3275 so that the MS technician could lead me through the steps needed to remove it. Said if I closed the page my computer would be shut down in order to protect the system. Rang a friend who checked for me and he confirmed the negative reports for this phone number. I closed the page, nothing happened, my computer is OK. (Write down the phone number before closing the page and report it on these websites.)

MS Impersonators (Scam call) reported by


A clear SCAM, don't be fooled. While browsing I opened a new window and a screen opened looking like a MS warning screen and a pop up stating someone was trying to steel my credit card details and identity. Also started up the same message audibly through the speaker and warned that if I closed the page the computer would be disabled to protect the network. I could not get rid of the pop up as it kept reopening. This Freephone number appears in searches without an owner so I suspected it was a scam. I phoned and the foreign speaker identified himself as a certified MS technician but was unable to provide me any proof and said he was not allowed to as it was a recorded line. He tried to get me to open a web page that would lead to him taking over my computer. When I refused he hung up. This is clearly a scam. Don't ring, don't do anything except to open the task manager and shut down the browser and report the scam.
