Offering a better Barclayscard than I have (Telemarketer) reported by


Received a call on my mobile. Said they were Barclaycard offering me a better Barclaycard account for my company. My company doesn't have a Barclaycard. I also asked how they got this number and they said it came through on my details from Barclays. BARCLAYS DOES NOT HAVE MY MOBILE NUMBER ON RECORD. I ended the call. As to the comments above about verifying the number with Barclays, those are obviously comments from people who are unaware of CALLER ID SPOOFING. The number you see is not the number that is actually making the call. This site should remove those comments as it is giving people a false sense of security. When in doubt, ask for their number and call back. That's still not 100%, but will eliminate most of these calls as they will usually hang up.

It is DEFINITELY Barclaycard all these people above saying its a scam it's not. I used to have a business account with them and the number matches their website. As for the above people say banks don't ask for personal details they will if they are trying to sell you a service, they need your email at least to send you a form. NOT A SCAM.

She confirmed my first name. Did she had identified me as a self employed small business owner by my spending pattern and was offering me a business credit card. As nothing on my Barclay card is remotely business like I knew this was a ploy to get information off me and that the calling number appearing on my mobile was spoofed.

Told me (in a british accent) they were Barclays Credit card, had my name and company name (not hard as we're a limited company), i asked them why with over £2 million in the bank i would need a credit card, i guess they hadnt been trained for that question as she mumbled something then hung up. BANKS WILL NEVER PHONE YOU AND ASK FOR YOUR DETAILS. No matter how convincing they sound , NEVER EVER give out any information, not even your name.

Introduced himself as being from Barclaycard! Told me that I had been identified as being a small business.... insisted I MUST apply for a business credit card & if I used my current credit card again for a business transaction then I'd be arrested! Told him my credit card is used infrequently for grocery purchases & then proceeded to tell him to F*** off before cutting him off!!! I am sick to the back teeth of blocking 0330, 020, mobile 07, & now today 0800 numbers! Bloody scamming foreigners.... I'd like to know how they obtain our numbers!?

They get our numbers from every * out there that we give it too ,most of the Companies sell off our Information which then allows these * to get hold of them and try to Scam people.They make me laugh they all claim that they need our info for security purposes but in the next breath they are selling it on.
