british gas checking on why we haven't topped up our meter recently and if we need help. very impressive. however rebate being paid for energy crisis is going onto our meter so no need to top up.

Auto message that said the call was from British Gas asking if the household was ok, the message said that it was due to an unusal pattern in topping up the Smart Meter. Good call if it was from British Gas which after reading on here it seems to be them, however, they should inform their customers of such potential calls as we automatically assume that calls like this are a scam.

Apparently British gas calling me from number 8000094818. No idea why, other than to try and get me to have a smart meter installed. If it was that important they could have left a message asit's my landline they keep calling which has voicemail and an answering machine. Don't trust them at all. They can send me a letter if they want to tell/ask something instead of calling up asking to speak with me. No way am I confirming who I am to some stranger with a Pakistani accent who could be using BG as a front. They can send me a letter if important, otherwise get knotted!

Caller was from British Gas checking all was okay with gas supply, had noticed a change in the top up pattern for my meter. Offered benefit advice service too. Very polite didn't ask for any information that would make me think it could be a scam.
