I just couldn't hear what he was saying, even with my volume cranked up to max. I only found out it was Thames Water when I came here. I was expecting a call about a water meter, so if they try again I'll at least know what it's about. Thanks.

Claimed to be from Thames Water. Asking to arrange an appointment to carry out maintenance on a water Smart meter installed in my property. I do not have a water smart meter installed in my property so challenged who they needed to speak to and the address (they did not ask for me by name). They would not disclose this until I confirmed who I was due to data protection, which I refused as I do not know for sure they are Thames Water, due to data protection....

They offered to come by and put a water meter in for us, claiming it is to regulate our current usage and bills. But we are not covered by Thames Water, we have never had an account with them, and we did not contact them about any meters because we already have another supplier. Plus our home is managed by an agency, but they made no efforts to contact the agency either. It honestly felt off and I definitely don't trust it.

why don't genuine companies send these requests in the post addressed to the home owner etc? Anyone could be on the end of a phone call.
