Nationwide credit card help, Banking, it is a genuine number from Nationwide credit card help (Nr on their website). but the operator was so lame that I told him I'd call the number on the back of the card. too many protocol questions to get to the point. not reassuring at all. but the number appears as genuine.

The call handler was not able to tell me how I could distinguish this from a fake call. However, he was willing to give me the genuine number for Nationwide Credit Card enquiries, which I checked on the internet. When I called into question where he was calling from, he said I would be able to tell he was from Nationwide because of the number he was calling from and did not appear aware that it is possible to mask numbers/make it appear as if you are calling from a different number. When I called Nationwide Credit Card direct, they confirmed that it had been a genuine call. Not impressed with the first call handlers lack of knowledge as to how scam callers work!

Put phone down and contacted nationwide card security and told no call had been made by them it was a scam tactic they used.
