I knew I shouldn’t have answered it, but I was expecting another call. I’d heard of the scam before so as soon as the voice started talking I hung up. I’m glad the police are aware but this would no doubt be scary for someone who took it seriously!

Fake robot voice claiming to be HMRC (Scam call) reported by


Police are warning about scammers cloning HMRC numbers. I just had one. It is a robot voice claiming they HMRC and that the caller has committed tax fraud. I then hung up as it sounded dodgy. I googled the number and found out about the scam. The scammers try and ask for money to be transferred, according to police.

scam claiming to be HMRC, asking to press 1 in to connect (Robocall) reported by


Robot claiming to notify my about a tax fraud case in my name, mentioning serious consequences like prosecution and jail, unless I pressed to 1 immediately connect to HMRC.. I hung up and called HMRC directly to confirm everything was fine with my tax, and to alert them about the scam. Blocked the number & report.
