this is the genuine HMRC number, but is clearly being used by scammers to try and trick you. calling this number will reach the real HMRC.

This is DEFINITELY NOT a scam number. It is the official contact number for the HMRC. I called them directly to register as Self Employed and got the number from the official gov.uk website. If you have been called by them because you may owe taxes, it is best to answer or call the number back yourself, instead of avoiding or blocking the HMRC.

Prerecorded message saying they are HMRC and there is a fraud case against me. Very poor English. He said I have to pay £440 if not they Block my bank account. I asked for a paper Bill first. I think it's a scam.
