Spoofing/faking the HMRC number. Upon recalling (legit number), told no reason they'd ring me and the number would be private. Spoofing scam. If you answer it will be a scam caller, hang up, recall number if worried, like I did. TLDR; Don't answer, recall if you wanna check.

after a weird computer message about HMRC having a warrant for my arrest, some Indian fella came on the phone asking for my name and why I was calling, he said he was going to call the police, to which I replied please go ahead and then put the phone down.

This is definitely a scam. I phoned HMRC and confirmed. Apparently when you opt to go through to speak to representative they ask for all your personal details. DO NOT ANSWER THE CALL

Had this before, I assume the Inland Revenue would have got me by now as the last one was about 6 months ago. It also was a slightly different number earlier +30 02003300 which my phone said was from Greece. Threatens there is a warrant out for your arrest e.t.c. HMRC would send a letter. Not get you to reply to a robot voice.
