Asked for me by name, said he was a solicitor calling to speak to me about the car accident I have had in the last 2 years. I haven't had an accident and don't even own a car, I never have. He insisted I did have a car and that I had been injured in it. He got aggressive with me when I told him no I did not. I hung up.

A man with a foreign accent asked for me by name. I asked the man his name, the company, and the telephone number. He replied "Shut your mouth and get off this line." Online investigation revealed this to be a scam service.

The caller said he was calling on behalf of The Motor Insurance Bureau concerning a recent car accident. He had called twice before using the number 03459 998888 but the line cut out both times. He had some details of the incident but wanted me to confirm more than I thought necessary. When I asked him for evidence of his identity he gave an incorrect motor insurance policy number. I told him I was suspicious and he started to get cross. When I said I did not want to continue the conversation the line went dead.

Caller was very adamant he was not a third party personal injury claim call. I asked for all his details, he gave the following false address for the Motor Insurance Bureau : 177 Garretts Lane, SW18 4EN. it is a small shop front on a high street according to Google Maps. and the telephone number attached. He also gave a reference number... Far too convincing for many people to realise he is bogus.

Apparently I am due compensation for my accident (which I didn't have) - £3000 for injury (which I didn't have) - "I must have forgotten" they say ! When asked his name - "James Harding" - funny I said you sound a bit Asian - but he replied he is "German and loves "f*ng" Indian girls - so what do you know ?!" and he went straight back to asking me about my "claim" ?! I asked for his number so I could call him back and he gave me this one... I ended up hanging up in the end because he was happy to continue talking - I probably kept him on the line for 20 minutes...
