Called asking for me by name. I asked how I could help and he started some nonsense about child safety. I assumed he was trying to sell me something or trying to get some kind of charity contribution. I asked him to 'cut to the chase' and he informed me that an 'invoice would be coming through my door in the next few days' and that I'd 'better pay it'. I asked him what the invoice was for and he accused me of being rude and informed me once more that I'd 'better pay the invoice'! I then ended the call.

The caller said we had asked to him to call us back after promising to make a charitable donation for kids taking their own lives! He said he had a recording of our previous conversation so would send an invoice for these books we never ordered! He was polite but quite aggressive and insisted we had to pay. We then ended the call.

Just rude spam, gives your full name and asked to speak to them. Puts phone down if you ask too many questions. Stated they were a company called BSB?

Had these calls for years to my business landline, it does get more sinister, a week before xmas last year at 17-15 they call from a mobile number saying they are high court enforcement sheriffs (these dont exsist anymore) and are on their way to enforce a warrant to seize goods, if they arrive at my property i have to pay another £700 so pay now to stop us turning up, when asked why a ccj hadnt been issued they said i can assure you it has, i asked for the court reference number and the name of the court, they gave me a reference but said they dont have the name of the court, I also called the alleged company they said they worked for who had no record of the reference number or the alleged high court sheriff. Also phoned police who again were worse than useless and advised they cant do anything unless we had actually been scammed of any money. Block them!!!

Caller somehow knew my DOB and said this was a password to verify a previous call earlier in the year. Almost fell for it. When he started to ask for £299 I told him it was a scam and hung up.

Called by a very articulate, polite and friendly, persuasive caller (I think he said his name was David Taylor) - sounded so personable as if he knew me, but I could still tell immediately it was a clever scam call. I told him so and he replied 'oh you must have got your wires crossed, this is not a scam' but I then put my phone down and have blocked the call.

I put the phone down as soon as he said Children's Safety , I had this ridiculous performance last year where they told me I had agreed to sponsor an anti drink and drug campaign ....if they knew me they would know this is so not my bag :) I am a huge rule breaker and don't like children...they were blatantly lying to acquire money so hence its a SCAM

Same experience as Nikki had today - don't be fooled by how friendly and knowlegable the caller is - they will even say: "you asked me to call you back" - hang up and block the number.

Books for schools sponsorship (Scam call) reported by


It seems this scam is doing the rounds again - You get a guy asking if you remember pledging a charitable donation for school books that are to be sent out from a publishing house, and that they have now all been printed and are ready for distribution. He then asks for the donation, and if pressed will tell you he has your written pleade, and unless you send the money you could be prosecuted. Don't be fooled - this is a 100% scam - just put the phone down

Missed a call from this number - checked it and no indication it is a spammer but tried to call back a couple of times and it doesn’t ring - just got ‘beeps’
