Call is from AO.com, ordered a new washing maching which is due for delivery today, I suppose he was quite friendly and polite, going through the details of the new machine and delivery, confirming everything was correct, then he started with the extended insurance plan sales pitch, after listening to him drone on for ages about all of the details of the plan, I told him I did not want to purchase the plan to which he quickly ended the conversation and that was that.

I have bought a few times from AO over the internet, this is not a problem. The problem is that as soon as you place an order (and give all the details they need), they call you under the disingenuous pretence of checking details and informing you of a delivery you already know about. However the real - and only - reason for the call is to sell you extended warranty insurance. If you are ok with this, that is fine, but the length of time to get to the point is needlessly time consuming and a little deceitful IMO, if you don't.

Then asked about whether I would like to take AO Care insurance. Decided not to take it and remains polite and friendly to talk to. Not a bad experience at all.

Ao.com. Ordered a built in oven from them. Confirmed order but tried to upsell insurance, very tedious long drawn out conversation. I miss the days of just being able to buy something without being hounded with up selling and new products etc etc after the event.
