The obligatory Indian asking to speak with the owner of the business, I told him he wouldn't be available till tomorrow. Asking if I could take a message he said he was calling from UK Energy Department and our supply is due to be cut off in the morning. I politely said I would pass the message on. I highly doubt he will a) call back b) find ourselves with no electric in the morning from this unheard of company who doesn't supply us!

unsolicited call , demanding that I provide meter readings for gas and electric. I refused. Caller said he would cut off my supply if I did not comply. I told him it was a scam. He rang off without further conversation.

Indian lass spoke to me asking if they could speak to the owner of takeaway. I knew it was a cold call so I played along, said I loved Disney Land and asked her if she had ever been, I carried on asking her questions like does she like the colour blue. She then put me onto someone else (a bloke). I asked him loads of random questions. He asked for my mobile number, told him he's a silly billy because he's already called me and knows my number. (He called my house phone). By the time I had finished talking, I'm sure he thought I was mentally ill and eventually put the phone down. I await the next call so I have a new victim to play with. :-)

Some Indian guy asked for the owner of the business I was in and I asked him what the call was about. Claimed that it was on the behalf of the National Grid. May be a scam using a spoofed number. May ask Citizen's advice what they think of it.

Very rude and intrusive lady caller (Telemarketer) reported by


Lady asked how I was today and I immediately knew it was a cold caller. I said I wasn't interested in taking her call and she was extremely rude, stating she was from National Grid and didn't I want cheaper electricity. She said she didn't have time to waste talking to me and hung up. I did 1471, this number came up but you can't dial it back. Had another call from them today but let it go to answer phone, they didn't leave a message.

Tried to say that I had overconsumed with my lecky. Asked them who my supplier was since the NG would have this information. He said he didn't know. Told him if it's urgent then send me out a letter. He hung up.

Male with a thick accent - Middle Eastern or Asian perhaps, very loud phone line so hard to tell. He called asking to speak to owner, said he was calling from Direct Energy Dept. I explained the manager is not available for the next 2 weeks and he got quite angry and said 'no ma'am this is urgent'. I explained I can maybe find someone else to take the call if I could have his number, email and what the call is regarding. He said 'no let me speak to the owner, ma'am what is wrong with you?! I'm going to cut off the call. This is urgent.' It went round like this for a while then he hung up.
