Call from man saying he was from virgin media and need access to pc, otherwise we would be cut off. Didnt believe him said we would call back once we had checked number.

Call from a fellow purporting to be from BT Technical Services re a virus. I was suspicious as BT never call - they only contact via e-mail and when I said this, he had a ready answer: "That would be our Billing Department, ma'am; we are Technical Services", suggesting he was already primed; I asked where he'd got my number from - "from our BT database, ma'am" which might have sounded plausible to the unsuspecting. I told him I wasn't prepared to discuss anything further until I had checked his number, which I always do for unsolicited calls to check if they are bogus: so far, they all have been so I wasn't unduly surprised to find so many reports from people here.

Asian guy said he was from TalkTalk. Wanted to remove virus from computer! Usual bul*t. When I told him he was not from TT he gave me the above number to ring. I put the phone down and had the cheek to ring again asking why!

Call from so called Talktalk control center saying that there were errors and warnings on my line. I asked for the number and the chap, who called himself Brian Jones gave me this number. Trying to convince me it was not a scam number as I suggested I told him I was going to terminate the call, which I did.

We have also just had this scam call, claiming to be from BT trying to remote fix our broadband. As BT have confirmed, they DON'T call customers as - ironically - they wait for us to contact them about faults.

The guy on the phone told me he worked for BT technical services and that I had been hacked. He wanted me to go online and download something. I hung up, phoned BT and asked BT if they tried ro phone me, they confirms they hadn't.

Same just happened to me today. Someone purporting to be from BT wanted me to download anydesk.com so that he could rectify some kind of negative signal from my computer....
