They had all my company details, including my address which made me very nervous. They said I owed £6,800 for tax year '14' to '15. They said if I paid over the phone within 24 hours then the debt would go away. If not, I would be arrested the next day and bailiffs would take all my possessions. I called my accountant who basically said that HMRC would NEVER make such a call, even if I owed them tens of thousands. There is a process and this call was most certainly a scam. I found this interaction incredibly stressful and wondered how many people may have paid in a panic. I called the number back the next day and engaged in a conversation as if to say I was ready to pay. Eventually I challenged them and told them I knew they were scammers. After a while they hung up. I called again. And again, And again. The last time I spoke to them, the man on the phone admitted that they were not legitimate and had been running this scam for years. I told him he was ruining peoples lives. He laughed and said he had never been caught. Deeply humiliated to have gotten so wound up by the scenario. If you are ever in doubt, just hang up.

Automated call - which I called back. Mistake. Spoke to Indian call centre who said I had a case # and that I had been found guilty. If I paid now I would avoid the penalty. Threatening behaviour - officers to arrest me etc. Reported to Ofcom

The first giveaway that this is a fake call is too much information being given in the voicemail. This breaches data protection and GDPR rules. Also, it's an automated call. Finally enforcement action like the action stated in the voicemail is actually illegal in Northern Ireland. Reported to Ofcom.

Left me a voice mail saying they were from the HMRC and that it was important I called them back immediately. When I rang them back they said I had been charged with tax evasion. To cut a long story short, I could either go to court and it would cost me in excess of £25k or I could pay the £3498 over the phone today to stop proceedings. When I told them they were having a laugh, they hung up. This was quite a convincing call to try to get money - please be aware
