drive me insane!! constantly ring our nursery claiming to british gas when they are not. they will argue and argue and get quite rude on the phone. i have repeatedly asked them to take us off their calling list but they just ignore it. also registered with tps but still get calls

Persistent caller claiming to be from British Gas (only took the call because we have existing energy contracts with British Gas) - claim to offer zero standing charges etc. Initial call clearly from 'offshore' call centre. Return name to call on this number - male - initials DM. Not going to bother now. Thank you to this website.

Claimed to be from edf Energy. I asked them to clarify this and they said again that they were from edf Energy. Gave me a call-back number of 0203 468 3969. I checked this with edf. It was definitely NOT them.

Name given sounded like Treem, Indian possibly, and claiming to call about our electricity supply. We have a combined tariff so obvious that its not legit but you could be fooled.

A guy called the business with an Indian accent said he was calling from British Gas asking for the owner by name. I said he wasn't available & asked to take a number & get him to return their call. The number he gave was 02034683969 & his name was D. M. & he could get us good discounts...*diot!

Posed as consultants to British Gas offering to transfer electricity tariff to a cheaper business one (probably found me from Companies House data). Foolishly authorised a direct debit which appeared on my bank account although British Gas confirmed no transfer listed on their national database. Fortunately domestic tariff was locked in for a fixed period, so bank was able to block direct debit before any funds were taken.

Keep ringing from like India from blocked or +220202020. Clever as they do have some correct details but definatley not British Gas re Business electric contract. Mentioned a name that Sharon would answer 0203 468 3969. Prev number they gave was 0203 568.7155.Dont give them any detailsbut only do outgoing call to your supplier direct only. Today spoke to Shaun (same name as in a Eon post below) supposed to be a Senoir Manager and before a pled called Jason.

Had a call from a rather unfriendly woman purporting to be from EDF Energy and saying a letter had been sent to us about the compulsory renewal of our account and as we hadn't responded she was calling to arrange the best new deal for us. She was unable to send another copy of the letter as it was date-specifically generated (or something). Took her number to call back and when I checked - well, here we are....

Just had call from this number pretending to be from Opus and trying to find out our contract end date. Very persistent, rude and annoying but because he had some of our details, it made me doubt myself. We have had so many of these calls, I am always on guard. Eventually told him that I would call him back next week with the details he needed (obviously I wouldn't) so he gave me the number...just as well as when I dialled 1471 it was withheld.

VERY persistent caller, from "British Gas". he had some of our details but instinctively I knew something wasn't quite right. A little bit of searching found out they also go by the name of EON and OPUS. Had a bit of fun with them and then announced that the phone number he had just given me was registered as a potential scam line and he got angry and hung up! Also said his name was Sharon!

Cor your not kidding all very slick esp when your sitting at the computer doing an online search for prices and waiting for 4 call backs with prices - damn good timing on their part as they nearly had me! BUT I was offered zero standing charge then asked for the quote to be emailed to me and got a contract form with no web address, brokers name and even the email address looked wrong ([email protected], then I found this site. Thanks to all those who have now confirmed this scam. His name was Sharon!!

A complete pain in the back side this number. Victor Lee has called me 5 times now from this number! He claims he is from EON and of course EON confirms he most certainly is not! Constantly keeps telling me he wants to renew my contract and I must tell him my customer number etc....... I don't think so!!!

Called SIX times! Claimed to be from Eon. Told him to stop calling or a complaint will be made. Made a complaint anyway. Eon replied and said no one from Eon called us. Evidently this is a scam number.

Had a call from someone called Richard who said he was from Eon and did I want to renew my electricity contract. I told him I did not have a contract for electricity with Eon. He asked if I had gas but couldn't give me any details of my contract. I gave him account number and meter reference and he told me my company name, which was wrong. At this point I told him if he didn't even know the name then I was ending the call as I didn't think it was a true call from Eon. He then called again and spoke to my husband who told him we didn't want to renew. He asked why and my husband told him that we were at liberty to choose who we go with and he was fed up with him calling. The caller then said that my husband was talking bull s*it and crap. My husband said he was going to call the police. I contacted Eon and they said that it was not from them. He even tried calling back but someone else in the office just hung up. He was very rude. Be careful.

Just had message left on answerphone. Can hardly make out the first part apart from the word renewal due to heavily accented Indian voice. Made out number after three listens. Will not be calling it.
