I received two calls within 30 minutes, each from a different number (01081943263 and 01175632075) advising me that I would be disconnected from the internet over the next 24 hours and advising me to press a number on my handset to speak to someone about it. After the first call I did, and a man with a very pronounced Indian accent, calling himself Kevin Parker and claiming to be from BT, rang to say that my IP address had been compromised and was being used by someone in Mountainview, California. When I became suspicious, he began asking me various questions about my internet usage, including whether I did online banking, the tone of his voice becoming agitated. As I continued to challenge the bona fide nature of his call, he then warned me that I could be disconnected from the internet for 6 months if I failed to cooperate with him now. I said that was all the proof I needed that this was a bogus call and I hung up.

Said my IP address was being used by someone in California and I needed to secure my ip address spent 1hour 45mins talking through the procedure. I realised my curser was moving without me touc hing it. I was not happy so i ended the call
