Telephone Scam (Scam call) reported by frilly_lizard

This number is from a telephone scam. They are ringing people to tell them that the UK Government is giving away a free £8,000 Grant. They ask you for you bank account details or other security information so they can send you a Western Union transfer. Beware!

This is still happening but they are now asking you to call them with a reference number. I am just sharing all over the facebook

Yep! They phoned my 87yr old mother today instead I answered the phone. Straight away I was informed that I'd been selected amongst 1700 UK citizens to receive £8000 for being a good citizen i.e. paying tax, not having criminal record etc etc. I've been living in The Netherlands for the past 30 yrs, so that counts me out. They also give a Ref. No. and ask to phone back: 02032875032 Oh by the way behind the line they all speak with an Asian accent.

They woke my very ill Mum - the got her to her address, age and name and then they asked her call a number back straight away NL 0203275032. Mum finished the call with them as she did not want to be bothered by them. Again speaking with an Asian tone - these are criminals and they should be prosecuted and sued - next time they phone - ask for their name / DOB and address / and contact number and report them to the Police asap. The they asked to called back on was NL 02032875032 - SCAM SCAM SCAM .....

had a call from these crooks today! can you imagine the UK government giving away £8000 for being a good citizen? Not in my lifetime. they give you a reference number and number to call - 02032875032. All have Asian accents, cannot even say 'British Government' properly! Don't give your details to these people, they are criminals.

I have just had these 'Eastern European' bandits on my home phone. They offered me an £8000 grant and told me that I needed to call them back on this number (02032875032). I told them I had no credit and I spoke to a supervisor who then phoned me back. They told me that to get the fund transfer into my bank I needed to give them a £200 fee and wanted me to go immediately to the post office and fill in a MoneyGram. I told them I couldn't get there as I was on disability benefit and couldn't travel to the post office without special transport. I asked why they couldn't take the money off the grant and he said he was not authorized. I said I do all my banking and tax on line and he went away and came back to say this was not possible. He insisted I call him on 02032875032 when I was at the post office and is awaiting my call. I might consider doing so when I go for a run tonight, but it won't take me too long to come to a decision......
