Like other feedback here, supposedly BT IT support claiming I was being hacked from California. Logged on to BT and no such call ref as the one quoted. I never gave my name or IP address and caller could not tell me either! Caller hung up when I queried this

Problem with my Broadband IP Address (Scam call) reported by


I have just taken a call from a person stating that they were ring from the British Telecom IT department claiming that we are having a problem with someone using our IP address from California in the evening. She said that I needed to have some free software loaded on to my computer. She said that her name was Susan Matthews and that I could ring her back on phone number 020 3287 4596. I ended the call and then rang this number which was engaged. As suggested by B Jacobson I rang 1471 and got a number of 01726 395628 (I may need to report this number as well). So I suspect a scam and will not be dealing with them again.

FAKE OpenReach (Scam call) reported by


Someone who gave his name as George Wilson claimed to be from OpenReach, said an engineer was working in my area and then starting asking questions about my router and computers. He didn't have a real command of the English language and the loud noise in the background indicated a call centre. Gave me this phone number but I got a very different one when i dialled 1471 after I ended the call.

Scam call claiming to be BT (Scam call) reported by


Caller said calling from BT and that there was evidence of someone hacking into my broadband and very high, unusual use of my broadband. Wanted to run programme. Refused to give any details of my account and said I'd call back BT. Gave me a number and name - Ben Jones - and even an employee ID number BT9051. I asked for a reference and he said 'Hacking trouble'. Check ed account and no issues.

Rang to say someone in California was sharing my IP address and tried to talk me through accessing a site to prove this. A program called TeamViewer_Setup.exe downloaded to my computer but whilst he was talking I Googled this program and when I saw it was a computer sharing app, I terminated the call and deleted the program. He was Indian-sounding but said he was called Mark Roger and had a BT employer number of BT5568.

Trying to gain access to my computer (Scam call) reported by


Indian sounding caller claiming to be with BT claimed that someone in California had been trying to access my computer and requested I switch on my computer to investigate. I declined.

I had exactly the same call today, 14/9/17. He claimed to be from BT and said my IP address was being shared by someone in California. In trying to prove this to me a program called TeamViewer_Setup.exe downloaded to my computer. I was wary of this and Googled it and when it said it would allow my computer to be accessed, I ended the call and deleted the program. Rang to say had identified someone in USA was using my IP address. Requested I went to PC and performed searches etc. Very dubious and evasive answering any direct questions. Be very aware.
