BT Scam Call (Scam call) reported by Flatfoot
Asian woman calling herself Jennifer Parker insisted our broadband was being hacked by a Nigerian hacker. She wanted me to divulge the security code. She was tried to sound plausible by giving a BT id number and a helpline number - 02032872062, but was most insistant I had to give her the information within the next 10 minutes. Yeah right....I hung up! I half hope she calls back so I can string her along and have some fun (my son is brilliant at it and we usually fall about laughing as he's ordering something like a chinese takeaway).

Scam call reported by Peter
Just had exactly the same an Indian David Willie on 0203 2872062, told him I would ring him back after I'd checked things out, googled it, read this blog. He rang me again a bit later purporting to be from BT, told him I new he wasn't and to go and **** himself and hung up. Its my birthday today having a great day.

Like all other comments this number is defiantly a SCAM. I have had various other "your computer is being used" phone calls in the past. They started by trying to tell me I had trouble with windows, which is odd as I have a Mac. He assures me it will not cost anything or they will not take any credit card details, not that I'd give it to them. At the next phone call I will ask him for the answer to my security question !!!!

"David Willy" - Phone No. 02032872062 (Scam call) reported by Hugh McDonald
I would like to concur with all of the comments below. The guy said he was from BT and that there was a problem with the central Router. I said that I was with EE but he said that it was an issue centrally effecting all providers. I then hung up on him, knowing he was a liar.

I also had a call supposedly from BT and foolishly fell for the scam. They rang me next day from this number; the person speaking had an Indian accent and called himself "Rocky".

Scam call reported by tiredofthis
I also had call, supposedly from BT, but with a very bad connection, which made me quite suspicious. However, we have been having major problems with our internet, so I was ready to believe him until he said something about hackers which sounded incredibly implausible. I asked for a number and he gave me this one, with the name Alex Johnson. I find it quite worrying, as lots of people may take the right steps to check if a caller is legit and still get scammed. I'm going to report it to the police.

Scam call reported by shenders
Received a call supposedly from BT telling me I had internet issues. When I asked for proof, he gave me a name and user ID number - D Day, UID 8006 - and asked me to call the BT helpline on 0203287 2062 to confirm his authenticity. I called but then gave a totally different name and ID number for the engineer. What a surprise - the made up details were accepted as valid!! This is a total scam - don't be fooled by it.

Scam call reported by A concerned person
Exactly the same as previous comment but it was Sean Johnston that called first and then when I expressed concern he asked if I would like to speak to a more senior person. He repeated word for word what Sean had said and wanted me to log in to a laptop. I cut the call and heard no more. I have concern that a more vulnerable person may be sucked into this so please spread the word.

Exactly same as previous.Asian guy with english name, this time steve wilson wants me connect to external laptop. They did have though my name and address to go with my phone number and I'm ex directory so that was worrying. I'm MSCE certified so was aware what they were asking me to do was crap but BT need to get a handle on this as less IT aware people will be fooled

Scam call reported by Disgustedscammercanbegiven0203number
Claimed to be from BT and noticed speed of internet was low because of probable virus. If I started up my PC, they would sort it out. Asian accent with English name like Terence Granger. I asked for tel number and as quick as a flash he gave me the above number. Obvious scammer.

Didn't fool for it
Said they were BT helpdesk and that my BT internet was going to be disconnected tommorrow and that my PC had been hacked into. I listened for a while, he got me to download Teamviewer and got me to look for errors , which did show, however at this point became very suspicious and when I said this he got aggressive saying he had already given me my private CLSID xxx nnnxx, and shown me where this resided in dos but this could apply to anyone's pc as far as I know. The Asian guy said his name was Peter Wilson and gave me is work id 313413 and a telephone number 0203 287 2062 . I rang BT broadband faults to check this, after explaining this call, they checked and said no one from BT had rung me that day. I restored my PC to an earlier restore date and the the Teamviewer software has been removed. Hopefully a lucky escape. The reason I was nearly fooled was due to an annoying pop up that started the other day which mentions a security alert and a secuirity certificate and Issued to pbttbc.bt.motive.com
Issued by Symantec Class 3 Secure Server CA –G4. This i keep getting and will try to find out why I keep getting it.
