Fraudulent - say they are from HMRC and need to be called back immediately before legal action is taken against us. Googled this and found people saying they have lost sums of money to them.

Unfortunately my mum has fallen for this scam today. They managed to get £500 out of her. Managed to get her to put £500 onto an ITunes Card and then asked for the PIN number off it to claim the money. Very persistent, even tried to make her call family members to borrow money etc. My mum being the innocent person she is gave in and paid what she thought they led her to believe. Please please ignore these calls, my mums in bits!

Told me it was very serious and to contact my solicitor. HM Revenue & Customs normally writes and does not phone out of the blue, and I treat all robocalls as bogus scams. Do not respond.

These type of scam calls seem to be geting more frequent from various numbers to the point where its advisable to check every number you don't know and barr them !!

Message left on my answering machine also - female voice claiming to be HMRC inland revenue. Told to call back and not ignore the call or face legal action over a HMRC sensitive matter but then took on a more threatening tone. My call to 1471 showed a number withheld. I considered this to be a scam but what about consideration for vulnerable more trusting people ? Authorities should be tackling this sort of behaviour.
