Missed this call and voicemail (automated) was left. I immediately took the number and Googled it and came across this page (thank you all). Unfortunately my partner listened to the message and called the number back, by the time I realised he was talking to someone and visibly shaking as they were telling him he had defrauded the HMRC and now owed nearly £6k; I told him to hang up. They had his previous business details and all sorts of information so he was pretty sure it was legitimate. Anyway they rang back straight away and I answered and told them it was a scam and he owed nothing so to go away and stop bothering us. He (Asian accent) told me that the police would be round in 15 minutes to arrest my partner. Still waiting...

All they want is you to call them. they claim to be HMRC and will take legal action unless you call back..... however, they do not give any info as to what it is about and the number is not a landline number...... I would think a government body would not keep calling with a short, non-descript automated message...

just had a call from this number, trying to sell me commodities. The guy was totally unaware of what TPS was and when I said he might want to chat to his boss about it he said why would he bother, he'd rather ring another potential client instead. he admitted it was an unsolicited call when I said are you just sat there cold-calling people (for some reason he didn't see it as cold calling but was happy for it to be unsolicited). After he hung up I dialled back and reached a switchboard who confirmed that the firm was AvaTrade.
