I put item for sale on Gumtree. 5mins later i received a very pushy phone call from an Indian speaking caller. Claimed he had my file in front off him for a recent accident i was in. Funny i have never been in accident. Beware guys. Number blocked..

Received a call after posting a room to rent on Gumtree, asking about an accident I'd had within the last 3 years. (I heard a call centre background) Indian chap claimed to be from the motor insurance bureau. I responded "Cool I've had loads of accidents, which one are you referring to?" He said the minor one involving injury. I responded "Yeah I've been injured loads of times with all kinds of injuries, which accident specifically are you referring to?" He hung up... Lol...

Posted a car on gum tree, got a call within 5 minutes from one number and told them not to call me. Another number phoned straight back and I said “don’t phone this number again” to which I got the reply of “don’t you **** talk to me like that you little scum, **** suck your mother you **** ****.” Very polite Indian guy. Number blocked, this **** needs to stop!!!!

Posted a car on Gumtree on behalf of our son, within minutes got a call from these scammers, couldn't understand them to start with, so after a minute I hung up, they called me back still rabbiting on, so I blocked the number, they then rung me from a mobile!!! Nuisance and Scam!

Like others had pointed out, call came immediately after posting a car to gumtree. I wouldn't have given it a thought had I not visited this page. Oddly though I received a call yesterday stating again they were from Traffic management but hadn't posted to gumtree and was from a different number. Indian sounding guy. I just said I've never heard of you, bye! and hung up.

Asked her do you need my name and only my name?. Answered yes. Asked are you sure? She said yes. Three sentences later she asked for my address. Lol. But don't worry I've rang back 8 times to see if they want to buy a transit van or a dog. The answers no up till now. I'll keep trying you never konw.

Took this call from an Indian sounding fellow who said my car had been reported in a road traffic accident, and asked if I was aware of anything like this. I said no. He pushed further, asking if there was anything small, in his own words 'anything like a small bump from behind, a small accident'. I said there was nothing in my entire ownership of the vehicle like that. He said OK, obviously fumbling a bit. Next he asked if any family members were involved, and this is where I smelled something a bit fishy going on- seemed like he was hunting around for anything at all. I said you would have to speak to them, it's none of my business- he said 'OK there is something wrong with my form, I go and check it...' Obviously a scam of some sort!

This call came within minutes of posting a car add on Gumtree. AFter I questioned the caller a number of times he claimed that there was a 'mistake' on his form. It sounded as though they were trying to offer a compensation claim. I would definitely hang up next time.
