I accused them of fraud and they hung up. Sounded Indian or Pakistani. Do not give them info

Knew my name. Said i was due a rebate of £980 and wanted card details. I said i don't have one on me. They asked if i was sure. I said i was positive then they aggressively said "how do you expect me to give you the money?!?" i said send me a cheque. They said they can't. I probed them for more information on myself. They promptly hung up. I block the number but they have since made a few efforts to call back. Definatley scam.

Do not answer to this number!! I was told it was HMRC and that i was owed a tax rebate of £541. So they asked for my card details, and i said surely you want my bank details if you're paying me. Refused to give my card details. Hate to think how many people could fall prey to this.

HMRC threat of court action (Scam call) reported by Karen
My husband received a call from this number, they said they were HMRC and he was being taken to court. My husband hung up! I was interested to know who called, I called the above number ?in Manchester. it was answered immediately by a man stating HMRC, I asked to confirm the name of his company, he replied "HMRC and we are taking you to court". I replied "see you there!". definitely a scam, they never asnswer the phone that quick and do not call to tell you about court action (so i'm told). DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN ANY INFORMATION

HMRC Income Tax Threat (Scam call) reported by Doug's Wife
Initial call was an automated voice call from an English recorded voice to my husband. The essence of the message was that the caller claimed my husband was under investigation for income tax debt and criminal proceedings would ensue unless he called the number. I called the number back and got through immediately to an Asian male (no queuing system or announcements) whose first words were " what are you calling me for?" I replied well I want to know why you are calling me (I'm female calling on my husband's phone). He said he was calling me about HMRC income tax from the investigations department. I said you don't know who I am? He said yes I do you're (my husbands name) to which I replied do I sound like a Doug to you? He said yes!! (a bit worrying I know!)However I said that was very interesting as I used to work in HMRC investigations so asked him which office he was in. He gave the HMRC Parliament Street London address. I asked what his name was and he said "Daniel Franklin". I said that the number he was calling from did not match the address and he started to get annoyed repeating he was from HMRC - I explained that no, he was only telling me he was from HMRC and could not prove his identity. I couldn't help but continue the conversation so asked him what Grade was he in HMRC - he didn't have a clue what I meant, flustered for a while, then said Grade B and hung up! I have reported the Phishing call to Action Fraud using their online portal

Accident claim artists (Unsolicited call) reported by Pam
"John" called my old mum "about your accident". What accident? Any accident ... Told him I didn't know what he was talking about and clearly neither did he. He should get his ducks in a row and call back if he had something interesting to say. I hung up. His colleague Sam (male) did call back (8 mins later), addressing me with both my mother's names. I confused him much more than he confused me and he eventually hung up on me. Other things that I noticed/discovered: it sounded as though a colleague was helping him answer my questions). When I asked him (repeatedly) whether he was actually doing a Survey, he eventually said Yes (and he confirmed it when I asked him again). I asked for whom and he said Royal & Company Solicitors LLB of Park Royal. I asked for a tel.no. so that I could shout at them instead of him. It sounded as though he was going through an old Roladex(!), muttering under his breath, and then he gave me "207836000". I asked where that is, it's not a UK number. He (annoyed) gave it again as 442072836000. He said that they and he were in Manchester; his colleague said something behind him and he corrected: Royal & Company's Head Office was in London. After he hung up on me, I called the London number and was answered by a legitimate London law firm (not called Royal & Company or anything like it). Both men's accents were difficult for my elderly N.European ear - perhaps SE Asian. ackground didn't sound like a huge call centre; sound was pretty clear and I couldn't decide (ref. my questions about the telephone number) whether they were physically in the UK. They skirted my direct enquiry on that point. Our BT Caller Display showed their number, if that helps. Our number has been listed with the TPS since the TPS existed - decades.
