Asked how many handset we had and if we were having problems with line as another shop (existing shop) on the road was having line problems. Tried to ask for more details but i didn't want to give any so I just suggested to call later to speak to the manager.

"Alexander" called supposedly about BT going to the cloud and inferred they were BT subcontractors - when questioned if they were a separate commercial entity they replied Yes.

Started by telling me he was from Cloud Source and are we an MOT testing centre, did we still have a BT phone line as we will have to change it to an internet line and they had someone in the area who could help us to switch. Asking me lots of questions, but I gave him no info and in the end he gave up and went. Just wind them up and waste their time like they do to us.

Pretended to fix a problem we did not have (Scam call) reported by


The caller said that all our lines had to be changed over to internet lines and we would lose our digital lines, so I had to give them all the information about our user base and telecoms provider, as they had been tasked with this service. They expressed urgency and the benefit of free calls and no line rental. After a few lines of questioning the caller, I finally got through to the fact they're just a telecomms provider trying to win our business in a very dubious way.

Asked to speak to the MD... they had the correct name. She was enquiring who handled the telecommunications. The usual annoying calls of which we have no interest in.

This number must be part of the range of numbers dedicated to the same call centre - I can see more similar numbers of the same range 16181484xx reported here already, so far as I can see on internet with ambulance chasers, PPI, insurance claims. People did they call you with something new, new scope?
