Declined it at the time as unhappy giving bank details over phone. They sent an emailed quote with a promise to call me tomorrow. Got a letter in that days post offering me the same D&G cover, via Candy, for a cheaper price.

The usual, very polite and asking if everything OK ...etc. and then you realise that they're really only calling to sell insurance. Rings several times a day, day after day. Block the number. They may also call again from another number (after you block the first one!)

Very polite man named Abz called to run through the order. All going swimmingly until you realise that the sales pitch is coming. £7.99 a month for breakdown cover which starts immediately but payment comes out 1 month later. Can be cancelled at any time. Yes wants sort code and account number to start it up. I did argue the point of european warranty being 2 years and he argued the point well that this is a manufacturers warranty not "any fault" cover which would be provided - engineer call out by D&G - all parts or replacement by AO.com. Like any insurance cover its a gamble as to whether you would want it or not. As I purchased an expensive American Freezer I agreed to the insurance however I will be reading the small print as soon as it arrives and feel confident that I can cancel agreement and dd before the first payment goes out if I find myself unhappy. In return as a guesture of goodwill Abz gave me a timed delivery to work around getting keys to new house and the delivery people arriving.

Call was from AO.com although a thinly veiled guise to sell insurance (that I don't want or need) under the false pretence of "calling to confirm my order" ... I'm sure Samsung will be proud of their manufacturers explaining why, because apparently it's "built for efficiency", a £1k washing machine is likely to fail sooner than you'd expect and "not built as well as they used to be" Also, using expressions like "can I just *confirm* your bank details" (having 'confirmed' my name and address) is very misleading when trying to set up a NEW Direct Debit to take money from you for no good reason. Very disappointing, I order online to AVOID having to deal with this upselling nonsense. Will ignore the number in the future, I have my emailed order confirmation - that's good enough!
