I have my own small business, which I had just (within 30 minutes) advertised on Gumtree. The woman tried to sell me the opportunity to bump up my website to the top of the Google listings. I had previously been advised never to agree to anything over the phone, not even to say the word "yes" at any point. Scammers edit phonecalls to make them sound as if you have agreed to purchase their services. I was clearly disinterested and even abrupt at times so the woman began a weird conversation, telling me about a psychic stopping her in town and telling her information about her life! She asked me if this woman was "for real"! How should I know? It was totally irrelevant to my business so I hung up. Their number is now blocked. Watch out for 0161 and 0141 numbers for the phone editing scammers. Agree to nothing and never say "yes" or other phrases of affirmation without establishing that the "seller" is a genuine service.

I have received numerous calls from these people over the past few weeks on my mobile, which i use for both business and personal calls, they are more frequent when I bump my advert on Gumtree, so i can only deduce that they are scouring Gumtree for numbers to call. Yesterday and today I have answered the calls and stated that my number is registered with TPS, and to please stop calling. (I am also dealing with family emergency at the moment, so these calls are causing me extra stress, when I am waiting for a very important call regarding said emergency, to say nothing of tying up my phone and potential clients cannot get through). After I told them that my number is registered with TPS, these idiots seemed to take this as a challenge, as they have now called numerous times since, at one point 5 times in the space of 4 minutes!!!! I have reverted to using the call disconnect button, however, I have now received a message via my advert on Gumtree calling me a rude sl*g!! really?? How very unprofessional, one can only assume that they are scammers of course!! ,I have registered a complaint with TPS, however they are using many different numbers, although similar, with the pre-fix 0161 (Greater Manchester). They are trying to 'sell' Google space apparently.
