a little bit of advice I use ( and it works ) when a call come to my mobile from a number I do NOT recognise I answer the phone like this ..Good ( morning or afternoon or evening ) you are through to the " ""??? your particular area ""Police Fraud line ..We now have your number to call you back.. but if urgent leave your name your reason for calling or the most convenient time to return your call after the beep "" ... They immediately slam the phone down lol lol ..I thought one guy was going to **** because he was so shocked he drew in air fast it set him violently coughing lol he followed after the beep by "" err oh err sorry wrong number lol

The right way

It's actually an offence to do this as impersonating an official of any kind is illegal also two wrongs do not make a right. You are also really fooling yourself if you think spammers and scammers would be intimidated or feel worried or threatened by thinking they had got through to a police station by accident. Just either don't answer or answer and hang up problem solved

I have a Google pixel 6 so I can screen calls, it just asks them to tell me who they are wouldn't me having to actually speak, they ended the call. Very suspicious tbf.

I haven’t answered, but they have called me 6 times and most of these times have been around 7pm or later. I looked online and apparently it’s a survey. Seems ridiculous to ring 6 times… I’m clearly not interested

Had another call from this number last night. No problems - it's a genuine survey but I decline to answer their questions. I never answer ANY survey questions even if I think the caller is secure and genuine. This number belongs to Ipsos MORI. MORI was running surveys on behalf of government departments since the late 1940’s. Ipsos MORI continue to run similar surveys for government departments and major organisations. BUT there is a problem. Scammers also cold call wanting to carry out a phishing scam survey. Apart from the accent, it’s not possible to know if the call is genuine or scam without looking up the number and carrying out some detailed research. It is, therefore, necessary to politely decline to answer any questions and explain the reason. A scammer will give you abuse. A genuine caller will understand. Until the government force our phone industry to introduce ‘Caller ID Authentication’ technology into our telephone infrastructure, we will always be hit with scam calls and that means we must be cautious of ALL calls.

Market research call. Ipsos MORI is a very well known/well respected survey organisation that carries out research surveys for major companies and many government departments. Just be careful that scammers haven't spoofed this number to get to personal information that they can sell on to other scammers. MOST calls from this number will be genuine. The survey will take anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes so be aware. The Ipsos MORI web site will give an overview of their findings with some of their surveys.

When answered, they claim to be calling from a specific government department. When pushed, they said they were calling on behalf of them. Was very reluctant to tell me who they were but found out they're trying to conduct surveys.
