Nuisance caller (Financial services) reported by


The phone day, after day, after day, up to four times a day. My phone is on answerphone continually, due to numerous nuisance calls. They never leave a message and call up to 6 times a day! I am registered with TPS, so I'm getting sick of these calls and TPS are basically useless and you can never find anyone to 'report' these calls to - my line provider doesn't even offer a 'blocking' system on their site/my account - just tell you to report it. Fed up with it now. These people should be strung up.

The man on the line said my husband contacted them for advice on financial services. This is a blatant lie because we have only ever had one company looking after our financial advice for the last 35years very successfully, St James's Place.

Calls from 01204311988 are from Goodwin Barrett. It’s their call centre. It uses a computer program to ring your number, and if you answer, and an agent is available to talk to you they will, but if not, some hear a ‘goodbye’ some a essage, and some hear nothing. So you can ring them back on their Freephone number, using 141 to make your telephone number appear to them as ‘anonymous’ and definitely at no cost to you. They will apologise, and say they could take your number of their calling list. Or, you could just keep on ringing them, and give them a taste of ‘their own medicine’. Dial 141 08082719220. You don’t need to say anything, just give it a moment or two, then hang up. They will be charged for your call. Revenge …

Apparently courtesy call following up a survey we'd recently completed ( which we hadn't) & we certainly wouldn't have given our landline number! I didn't let it go any further, I explained we are ex- directory & TPS but of course none of that matters to the nusience callers! Politely ended the call

Said he was from Goodwin Burrows. A quick search of the internet reveals no such company. Why can't these awful little telemarketing companies just be prosecuted for invasion of privacy?

Caller claimed they knew that I had lost money in an investment, and said they could help reclaim that lost money. I explained that I was registered with TPS and should not be receiving such unsolicited calls. I then closed off the call.
